Summer time

March 18, 2016

Well it’s starting to smell like spring, people cutting grass and other outdoor fun stuff.  Which means time to start thinking about my garden once again.  Can’t wait to make more jalapeño jelly and can other items. If anyone needs more jalapeño jelly let me know.  I pickled some spicy carrots yesterday and they look good. Can’t wait to try them.

Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

March 15, 2015
One of my most favorite soups is the Chicken and Wild Rice. I could eat this stuff a couple times a week.  You can serve this in a bread bowl or just serve with bread. Yummy my mouth is just watering thinking about it.
Try it out and let me know what you think.

Pickled Ginger

April 11, 2013

We just went to a new Japanese Hibachi Steak house & Sushi Bar called Koji here in Commerce. I fell in love with the California Roll, It makes me want to try to make my own rolls. They serve Pickled Ginger which i really like so I’m deciding to make my own. Ginger is really good for you.  I have found a few different recipes and have decided on this one to try.

Hard baked eggs not boiled.

June 13, 2012

I found this recipe to make hard baked eggs. They say it makes it easier to peel them. I will try it soon and let ya know.

Anyway here ya go.

  1. Place the eggs in a muffin pan so they don’t roll around and place in the oven in the center of the oven.
  2. Place the eggs on the racks.
  3. Place a baking sheet pan in the bottom of the oven (just in case an egg breaks).
  4. Set the oven to 325F, and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. When the eggs are done, fill a large bowl with ice water and move the eggs into the bowl.
  6. Peel the eggs as soon as they’re cool enough to handle, then return them to the ice water to thoroughly chill.

March 18, 2012

I made this a week or so ago and it was the best cornbread I’ve had. I put a little corn in it and I used regular onions diced since i didn’t have scallions and I used Habanero Cheese since I didn’t have Cheddar Cheese.

10 Tbs all purpose-flour
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1 1/2 Tbs yellow cornmeal
1/2 Tbs baking powder Read the rest of this entry »
